Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal


The Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, was born in Tambuwal in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State in January 10, 1966.

He attended Tambuwal Primary School, Tambuwal and proceeded to Government Teachers College, Dogon Daji, Sokoto State, where he obtained Grade II Teachers certificate I 1984.

Hon. Aminu Tambuwal later attended Usman Dan Fodio University and obtained Bachelor of Law degree in 1991 and graduated from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, in 1992.

In search of knowledge, he attended Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2008 and later Telane University for another programme in 2008.

Before his election into the House of Representatives, Tambuwal was Assistant National Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) between 2000 and 2002, an association where he had served previously as Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Bar Association, Sokoto State Branch between 1996 to 1997, Branch Secretary 1997 to 1998 and later National Financial Secretary 1998 to 2000.

As a Member of the House of Representatives he was the Deputy Chief Whip under the Speakership of Hon. Dimeji Bankole in the sixth assembly and Member of Committees on Rules and Business; Communication; Water Resources and Judiciary.
