Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on 28th March, 1986, Lady Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame in year 2008. The Fame was a huge commercial success and achieved international popularity along with her two singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”
Lady Gaga was listed by Forbes as one of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential Celebrities in the world and attained the number one spot on Forbes annual list of 100 Most Powerful and Celebrities. She also beats American President Barrack Obama with more fans on Facebook.
She was recently presented with the Fashion Icon Trophy at this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award ceremony held at New York’s Lincoln Center on 6th June, 2011..
The singer, well known for her outrageous outfits, was given the prize for “being a fashion revolutionary”, the CFDA said.
Gaga in her response after the presentation told the audience at New York’s Lincoln Center, said “All of you made me feel like a star before I was,”
There were also prizes for photographer Arthur Elgort and designer Marc Jacobs.
Elgort, best known for his work on the fashion magazine Vogue, was presented with the special tribute award for his “impact on photography and fashion”.
The Geoffrey Beene lifetime achievement award went to Jacobs.
