In a statement made by Olusiji Balogun, the Executive Editor of Eminent Leaders magazine, recipients of this year’s award has been drawn from people from all walks of life to include includes the Arc. Namadi Sambo, Vice President of Nigeria; Honourable Minister of Defence, Prince Tokunbo Kayode; Dr. Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu, Governor Niger State; Dr. Timi Alaibe, Special adviser to the President on Niger Delta; Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator of the Federal Republic; Dr. Paul Orhi, DG NAFDAC; HRH Oba Dr. E. Eminent Leaders Achievers Award is designed to honour Nigerians that are excelling in their various fields of human endeavour. Some past recipients include: the Late Senator Idris Kuta, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Governor, Ondo State; His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Sani, Yarima Bakura, former Zamfara State Governor; Hajia Fati Kadiri, Director of Public Affairs, National Populations Commission, Dr. Tonnie Iredia, former Director General NTA; Dr. Mrs Nenadi Usman, former Finance Minister, Hon. Abdul Ningi, former Majority Leader, House of Representatives just to mention a few.
The conferment ceremony will also combine honouring of selected Local Government Chairmen across the country with the Outstanding Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award (ONCMA 2010). Each recipient of this award category will go home with valuable prizes to include ten seater bus and computer sets, according to the organizers.
Outstanding Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award ‘ONCMA’ is conceived to add value to leadership at the third tier of governance in Nigeria thereby celebrating excellence and challenging both our leaders and upcoming generations at the grassroots to emulate the ideals of the recipients. This year’s recipients are selected across the country through an empirical survey and online voting at (http://eminentleaders.com/events&polls). The 2005, 2006 and 2007 editions of the award were successfully held at Centre for Women Development, Abuja and National Merit Award Auditorium, Merit House, Abuja.
