SAGA OF A TRAIL BLAZER,

Hon. Ali Ajuh

KEEPING HOPE ALIVE IN OMALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

In true life, it is not the critics who count, not the man who points out where the strong man stumbled or where the doer of good deeds could have done better. Credit and commendation actually belong to the man who is on the battle field striving to improve the lots of others. The man whose face is marred by dust, sweat and blood, the man who constantly strives to pursue a worthy cause to impact positively not only on his immediate environment, but the entire humanity.

For too long, the people of Omala Local Government Area have cried and yearned for meaningful development; for too long meaningful development has continued to elude the people. In spite of its enormous land mass, abundant human and natural resources, Omala Local Government almost two decades after its historic creation, has continued to remain perpetually undeveloped, lacking in virtually all the known indices of development.

The offensive and the unfortunate consequence of this situation is that several rural communities, that make up the Local Government, are grossly lacking in infrastructure and other basic social amenities that make life meaningful for the people. This ugly scenario of underdevelopment continue to elude Omala Local Government as an awful nightmare before the coming on board of a young energetic and visionary new breed politician, Hon. Ali Ajuh as the 4th elected Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government.

Like a visionary leader, who is conscious of his noble calling, Hon. Ajuh has over the years nursed and nurtured to one day climb on the podium of politics, using it as a platform for the selfless services of his people. It is thus interesting, heartwarming and hope rekindling to note that Hon. Ali Ajuh has been enlisted by destiny and providence to come on a rescue mission on the scene of the political leadership of Omala Local Government, at a time the people have virtually lost hope in grassroot governance.

Who is this quintessential young man? What are his pedigree, track records and roots? Records available indicate that Hon. Ali Ajuh, the elected Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, was born on 24th April, 1961 to hun1ble but enterprising fan1ily of Ajuh, of the ancient Icheke Village in the present day Omala Local Government of Kogi State. He had his early education at R.C.M primary school, Abejukolo between 1973 to 1978 from where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

On completion of his Primary School Education, young, enterprising Ali gained admission to Ife Community Secondary School, Abejukolo between 1978 and 1983 haven passed his School Certificate Examination in flying colours.

Thereafter, the ambitious and focused-driven Ali Ajuh gained admission to the famous school of Basic Studies, Makurdi and obtained his LJ.M.B. in 1985. Yet not resting on his oars, on completion of his advanced level programme at S.B.S., Makurdi, Ali went for the academic jugular in the quest for the golden fleece at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating with a B.Sc. Hons. Degree in Accounting in 1988 excelling as one of the best graduating students in his department.

Like all young men of his generation, he answered the call to National Service and had his N.Y.S.C. between 1988-1989. Still not resting on his oars and with an eagle eye for more academic laurels, Hon. Ajuh bagged his Master’s degree with the University of Calabar in 1994.

Armed with formidably intimidating acaden1ic credentials, young Ali, after his first degree, naturally settled down to gain the exposure, experience and the needed leadership skills and qualities in the public service.

His first working experience was with Kogi State Local Government Service Commission and he was posted to Olamaboro Local Government as accountant II. Through sheer diligence, dedication and unwavered commitment, he rapidly rose through the ranks to become deputy Treasurer. An activist of great repute, while in the public service he contested for the post of Local Government NULGE Chairman and won overwhelmingly.
